A work in progress

For those of you who read TT, you know that I found a little baby mouse that had been injured by a friends cat. I wanted so badly to take him home with me for a few days and let him recuperate, but the friend I'm staying with refused. I tried to release the mouse in a safe place and hope for the best. In remembrance of that little baby, I have designed my first mouse. I'll admit she is still a bit of a work in progress. Currently she is tailless, I haven't quite decided what to do for a tail, but she will have one eventually. I've had several friends inquire as to what's currently in the works and am surprised at the looks of disgust I get when I tell them I'm stitching up a wee mouse. I even had someone suggest I do a dog instead (maybe next!) Hopefully they will feel differently when they see her.

  1. She is adorable! No looks of disgust when you friends see her. I read your sad little tale on TT. It breaks my heart to see baby animals suffer. Funny where inspiration sneaks into our lives.

  3. What an adorable wee mouse! Absolutely no disgust here... I have owned mice in the past, and currently have 9 pet rats. Is she for sale? *contemplates whether I could drum up the finances to give this sweet mouse a home*

  5. well, I love mice..... and this little one is very cute.

I wonder if it would work to do a tail similar to how I do my poodle tails? I don't know if the mohair would be too stiff a fabric... if not, you could use it and shave it. But, maybe the gray of the inner ears? I use a piece of soft cord I get at bead stores... all thicknesses there... .. put fabric around it.. stitch it right onto the cord. Seeing as I am using the rayon I also clip off the longer fur and it looks like a shaved tail up to the end where I leave a bit of a puff. You will have to be neat and tidy with the stitching if you use fabric with no nap.... but, it could work I think... good luck....
